New Zealand Diary 2 July 2002

I left Palmerston North today bound for Wellington, but not before Margaret took me on a trip around the area. We drove out through the Manawatu gorge, the most spectacular things that I saw in the area. On one side of the river that runs through the base of the gorge is the trainline. Snaking round the other side is the road that we drove along. Margaret also drove me through a little dot on the map with the cute name of Bunnythorpe. There's not much in the township, but it has the honour of being the birthplace of the Glaxo laboratories, which has since grown into a multinational pharmaceutical firm.

The trip down into Wellington was rather uneventful, apart from finding out that Warren, our driver came from the town that I'd just visited.

To tomorrow
