Australia Diary 9 June 2002

We went walking this morning down to Erith coal mine, a short walk, as much to get the circulation going as anything else. We were very glad that we bought the wood that we did yesterday ($10 for a bundle!), as at least it burnt, which is more than can be said for some of the fresh, green and very wet stuff that was lying around in the forest.

After leaving the area, which looks uncannily like the South Downs in and around Sussex, UK, we journeyed east to the coast to go and take a quick look at a blow hole. But it didn't. The thing about blow holes is that the force water from strong waves up out of a hole in a cliff - so no waves, no blowing. The sea was as smooth as a very smooth teflon covered mill pond. So instead of a blow hole, we had a quick little look around a big hole in the cliff!

To tomorrow
