I'm off for a too brief peak at the Daintree National Park area. The most famous part is Cape Tribulation, where Captain Cook ran aground on the reef.

The trip up is along the Cook Highway. It's pretty straightforward to get up there - I'd hire something and do it myself if I was to go again. We stopped off at a rainforest habitate on the way up and saw all sorts of creatures that we probably weren't going to see in the forest itself. One of the critters ( animals ) was a cassowary. It's a bird, of anything up to 2m tall, that looks more like a dinosaur than anything else.

Despite being knackered ( tired ) and feeling a bit under the weather after my diving, I went on a rainforest night walk this evening. It was interesting, but unfortunately we didn't get to see anything more interesting than a couple of fireflies, a tree frog and lots of spiders.

To tomorrow
