We visited the Olgas today (Kata Tjuta). After a good long walk around the area, it was time to drive over to Uluru to catch the sunset. The rock is 348m high and is part of land traditionally occupied by the Pitjaantjatjara & Yankunytjatjarr people. They joined forces to form the Anangu - people (us mob) in order to confront the government. They have successfully won access to the control of the use of the land, for example, the resort has been moved away from the rock itself and the roads moved away from other sacred areas. One condition made by the government is that tourists must be allowed to climb the rock. Something that the Anangu people would rather we didn't do.

To tomorrow
